Speaker 1 00:00:07 Y hello everybody. And welcome back. This is actually our last official episode of 2021. And it's going to be even more surprising that we're only going to be talking about seven movies. Someone close to me had asked me how many movies I was going to be talking about. And I had told her that it was going to be around 13 because I knew it was a lot smaller than normal, but I did not expect it to be this limited. And some of them are surprised and other ones, maybe not so much, there are no Ellis movies coming out this week or weekend, but we have a lot of B-list and no list. And please forgive any extra background noise that you hear today has been an interesting day. As many of you know, I am a cat mom, and one of my kiddies in particular, figured out how to open the door into my office earlier. Speaker 1 00:00:59 Now we do have the lever type door handles, which I don't plan on changing any time soon, but, and that was just me removing one of the kitties from my desk. So that makes it a little bit interesting. They're just trying to help. I do have six beautiful babies that I, that, that we love dearly, even though they get into a lot of mischief. I wouldn't trade them for the world, but it does make it a little interesting while I'm trying to do my programs, but that's half the fun of it. If you are a returning listener, thank you for coming back. If you were a first time listener, let me introduce myself. I'm actually the deputy of movie, deputy.com and on movie, deputy.com. You'll find reviews on a many, many of the movies that are in 300 words or less, but on here, you get a little bit more in depth information. Speaker 1 00:01:49 You find out what I really think about the movie. So if you want a a hundred percent spoiler free reviews, definitely check out movie, deputy.com. But if you want to know what he really thought of the movie and a lot more of the extra information that I don't put in the reviews, this is your spot to be. Now that's not going to be today. Of course, our movie recaps are every Tuesday and the upcoming movies for the following week are every Thursday, which is what this episode is. And we're going to be talking about the movies that came out on the 27th, the 28th, the 29th. And of course the 31st, I cannot believe it's the end of the year already 2020 was insane. 2021. Uh, I can't, I can't say it really got a whole lot better, but there was so much more happening in 2021 movie. Speaker 1 00:02:42 Debbie took the leap and started the podcast. And I'm so glad we did. This has been such an amazing adventure that we started with movie deputy. I'm loving bud S I'd say I'm loving it 99% of the time. And, but that's the most important you got to love what you do, right? And that's one thing I truly do. They say, if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life, but no matter how much he loves something, there always ends up being worked somewhere with it. But I do. I love deputy. I put my heart and soul into everything of what I do, and sometimes it's to the benefit. And sometimes it comes around and kicks me in the ass. So forgive my language there, but I I'm undeniably an unapologetically blunt. I don't pull any punches. I I'm definitely not politically correct. Speaker 1 00:03:34 And I am anything but woke. So if that sounds like something that you like, or that you want to share with somebody feel free to like and share the program as well as my other channels as well. I have a channel called movie deputy, which is for all of our bonus content. I've got movie recaps, which is our Tuesday program. And that just talks about the movies that we saw for the previous week. And then on Thursdays is our upcoming movies podcast. And since today's Thursday, I'll give you a guess, which one? This is sorry, I'm going a bit of a goofy mood tonight and no, I have not been drinking. Oh, well, unless you count Pepsi, that is because I am an undeniable Pepsi Hollick. Speaker 1 00:04:16 But before we get too off track here, I want to be sure and get around to the movies on a lot of these days, the selection is kind of limited, but I promise I will be as thorough as possible. Let's jump right in with the movie that came out on December 27th. Notice I said movie and not movies. And that'll make sense here in just a second. It is a story called finding Kendrick Johnson. Now I do want to say that this is something that is not for the little ears. So if you have little ears around, you might want to pause the program and find a place to step away from them for a minute, or put your earbuds in. But finding Kendrick Johnson is a story about a teenager that never came home. It's not a runaway situation or anything like that, but the mom decided to call and report him missing because he never made it home. Speaker 1 00:05:03 Well, tragically Kendrick was found dead, but that's not where the story ends, the, how he was found and where he was found. And the conditioner which he was found with were very suspicious. Not a lot was done about that. It was actually a really tragic thing. A lot of people drop the ball, but when they went to do an autopsy on him, they found that his organs were missing and his torso had been packed with newspaper and other items. So there was obviously something very, very suspicious about how he had died and what all had happened to him in the amount of time before it was found. There's a quote in the movie. I think it's by the mother. I'm not a hundred percent sure on that, that it's in the trailer. And it says that if KJ had been white, they wouldn't have had to make the film. Speaker 1 00:05:47 I'm not exactly sure how that relevance plays into it because there's a lot of unsolved and uninvestigated murders of all colors, shapes, sizes, everything else in between. But this is definitely one that, that garners your attention and kind of a dark true crime way. This is not done as in movie, it is done as a documentary because it's trying to find answers for the family of Kendrick Johnson and whether or not it does that. I don't know. I haven't seen it yet. I know it came out a couple of days ago and I apologize, but this one I honestly had never even heard of before I was looking up the movies that came out this week. So my apologies to that, but this is one, if you're a fan of true crime type stories, then you might actually enjoy this just because of the fact, it really is a true crime thing. Speaker 1 00:06:35 It's going to definitely garner a lot more attention on that with the content. This definitely will not be for everybody, but it definitely has a powerful story that needs to be told. The next movie that came out on December 28 is who is Amos Otis. Now this one is a very controversial story right off the bat. It is it's based on an Oscar nominated play. That was that if you are politically one direction or the other one side will probably enjoy watching this movie, the other side is going to be really pissed off. And again, probably not for the youngest of ears, just because of the topics that this talks about Amos Otis, as a presidential assessing, he is a known, fascist, a racist he's just overall forgive my language. He's an asshole. Part of the whole idea of the movie is that no one deserves to be killed. Speaker 1 00:07:30 And Amos's response to that is, but what if he did though? Like what if he did deserve it? And there are certain instances where murder can be justified and one of them is self-defense and there's a couple other ones that kind of fit in with that too. But this is going to be a very divisive movie that is going to, it's going to pick sides right off the bat, whether you want it to or not. So that's going to limit its audience even further. This is what I'm honestly not looking forward to, but I probably will get around to reviewing it at some point, just because movies like this, just depending on, I did think that about the movie, the hunt that came out last year and that one ended up actually surprising me. But I guess we're just going to have to kind of wait and see how this one plays out. Speaker 1 00:08:16 But I, for one, don't have very high hopes for it. On the 29th of December is a movie called jockey. This one has an indie film about the life of a jockey. Now, for those that aren't familiar with the term, a jockey is somebody who professionally rides, race horses for a living throughout this journey. You see, as the time passes that you and your body aren't the same. And honestly, that doesn't matter what profession you're in because as we get older, our body start to deteriorate and we can do what we can to try to take care of them. But I mean, we can only do so much. Time is not our friend for this journey in particular, that bugle blast is the start of a personal revolution because he is to choose the life that he lives. And that means accepting all of the costs that come with that both personally and professionally, it looks like an interesting story from a perspective we don't often get to see, I wouldn't call it completely original because there've been similar stories in the past, but this one does look like a unique perspective on a story such as this. Speaker 1 00:09:18 It's definitely that one, that if you are a fan of horse racing or a fan of any type of competitive sports, such as this, that you might want to check out, if not there's gun, there'll be other ones to choose from the rest of the movies that we're going to talk about tonight. I'll open on December 31st, the first one being Munich, the edge of war. Now this is a Netflix movie set in Nazi Germany. A soldier is sent into the heart of Nazi Germany to retrieve a document about Hitler's truth. You see, Hitler is trying to play off light. It's going to be a much less thing than what he's actually planning to carry out. And there's people that suspect that there's going to be more to it. This whole story is about espionage, but above that, it's about something much more. It says as long as war is not begun, there is always hope. Speaker 1 00:10:08 So this is all taking place pre-war and people were trying to put things in place to stop. Basically the series of events that was about to happen and proving Hitler's truths is not as simple as it seems. And it's going to take the risk of a lot of different people. Is this based on a true story? I honestly don't know. It was kind of hard to tell from the trailers. This could be just an exaggeration of the story, but to think that even the idea that this was in somebody's head, and I can't imagine that if this is a completely fictional story, that this idea was not in somebody's head at some point. So how this plays out remains to be seen. But it's definitely an idea that could create a lot of discussion and what F's our next movie is a complicated love story. Speaker 1 00:10:54 If you have ever heard the name of Cyrano de Bergerac, you'll understand why I said that it's complicated. Love story. If you are not familiar with it might be worth a quick Google search. If this is a movie that you are interested in love is truly strange. And many believe that children need love and adults need money. But what if love would cost you everything? Would it be worth it? Well, this gentleman is in love with this with a certain lady. The thing is for him to love her or the idea for her to love him back is absolutely unheard of, but so he finds someone else that can portray the words because he finds who the girl is actually interested in. Only the one that she's interested in doesn't have the words. So Cyrano gives him his words to say to her, and she falls head over heels in love with him. Speaker 1 00:11:46 And then when they're together, she wants him to keep speaking the way he's been speaking to her in his letters only. They're not his words. And so things get really complicated. Love itself is complicated and to have love be so close yet. So far has gotten to be utterly devastating. He truly believes that his fate is to love her from afar. How the story plays out in history. Those familiar with it will understand the ending, whether or not the movie follows the historical ending of this remains to be seen. But it definitely looks like one that I I'm going to watch as soon as it's available. And I will definitely be talking about it this next week. If you're curious about it, the next movie is a little misleading. It is titled seal team. Now I'm not talking about the TV show. This one is literally about a group of seals. Speaker 1 00:12:39 It is on Netflix, and this is a cartoon it's completely animated about seals standing up to sharks as it going to be a fight, a brute or blubber, it looks, it looks cute, but it also looks extremely cheesy. Some of the stuff that was in the trailer might be a little intense for some audiences. Okay. Maybe intense. Isn't the right word, but just some of it was just a little much for a cartoon, but how it plays out these movies typically I'll play out the same way. It's like the good guys win, but sure. I'm trying to sell it to the bad guys either because it's just nature. But that doesn't really explain that much in the movie. The sharks are goofy and dumb. The seals are the brilliant ones. It's just cheesy. If you're looking for just mindless fun, this might be it. But other than that, it's hard to recommend the loss daughter is one that came out on December 17th. Speaker 1 00:13:35 So if you were curious about what this one was about, I would go back and listen to the upcoming movies episode from that week to kind of give you the full rundown of that one. But this one is now going to be available on Netflix. The last movie that is coming out in 2021 is titled sensation. Now this story is about people who have special abilities and they've been found out by their DNA. Who would you trust? How do you know who to trust and what are you going to do about it? This one is set up, or at least from the trailers, it feels a little bit like Xavier's home from the gifted meet, miss Peregrine's home of the peculiar. Now that probably doesn't give you a whole lot of information on it. It just from the trailer almost felt like an Avengers want to be a little bit. Speaker 1 00:14:22 It may not be anything like it, or it may be a cheap knockoff, I guess, for just going to have to wait and see, I still can't believe this wraps up the movie is for 2021. I am honestly excited about some of the titles coming up in 2022, but don't worry. I'm not going to give that away. You're going to have to come find me next year, which I know that sounds so weird, but it's just next week. But yeah, it's gonna be, uh, it's going to be a whole other year when you hear our next episode. I, okay. That's not entirely true. We are going to have a few bonus episodes coming up this weekend that you're going to have to make sure to like and subscribe to the movie deputy channel. So you don't miss out on any of those. And of course, I want to thank you for coming along with me on this journey. Speaker 1 00:15:08 This first year has kind of been trial and error a little bit as I've always been good with talking to people, but talking to a computer and microphone and stuff like that. I've kind of just slowly been finding my niche on that and I'm getting better. Nobody's perfect. I stumble and I stutter over my word sometimes, but like everything else in life we're always trying and striving to be better. 2022 is actually going to bring a few movie, deputy changes as well. And I'm excited to announce those shortly after the first of the year. So you're going to have to hang on and be ready for some of that. But until then, I hope you have a marvelous new year celebrating safely with friends and loved ones. And remember there are a lot of different programs to make sure you get home safely on new year's Eve. Speaker 1 00:15:58 Please do not drink and drive. It's just not worth it. And don't do it just for yourself. Do it for people that love you, do it for somebody else that's on the road that you don't even know. I mean, it's, there is never an excuse for drunk driving and buzzed driving is drunk driving. This is something I do feel very passionate about. So yes, I am going to touch on this. Like I said, there are a lot of programs. If you're unsure of the programs in your area, I'm sure if you do a quick Google search or even if you reach out to the non-emergency number of your local police station, they would even know who are aware of resources are to help you with that. But until then, I hope you have a wonderful new year as today is December 30th. So tomorrow is going to be the big day with the ball dropping in New York city and all the celebrations and celebrations going on around the world. But here in the central time zone, we've got just a little under two days left and I'm, I don't know about you, but I'm going to make the most of it. And till then I will talk to you soon.
