Speaker 1 00:00:07 Hello everybody. And welcome back on this beautiful Thursday, January 13th, 2022. It's actually in the fifties outside right now. And it is absolutely gorgeous. The sun is shining and what a day it is. But first of all, I want to apologize because I know this is my Thursday episode and I usually, I usually record it the night before, but of what a lot of you don't realize is that I have a bunch of chronic health issues. And last night, one of them was really kicking my butt. Now I don't want sympathy from anybody. I just want to explain why this one was not ready and up, ready to go first thing this morning. But as this is my Thursday episode, I don't want to disappoint you guys. My amazing listeners that always come back for more because I always promise you there's going to be something great. Speaker 1 00:00:57 And this week is no different. We are back to kind of our normal amount of movies again this week. And it's going to be a lot of fun. There are just quite a different variety of things, which is going to be kind of interesting to talk about, just so you know, it's, I'm going to be just basically partially editing this one because I have had such the huge, I don't even know how many requests it's probably had 50 or 60 requests to put the sound back in between the movies that I'm talking about today. Just because I guess they really miss that last week with our unedited ones. But I had, I honestly, I'm not getting so many requests for the unedited ones anymore and I've kind of gotten mixed feedback. So I'm going to keep going with a little bit of a mix of unedited. Speaker 1 00:01:40 If I flub on something, I'm not gonna necessarily edit it out, but you're not going to hear all the other bit that goes with it. And I love bringing these podcasts to you to tell you about our upcoming movies that are coming up for this week and weekend every Thursday. And then I have our movie recaps for the movies that I saw the previous week, every Tuesday. It's going to be really exciting. And I want to kind of give you guys a little bit of a heads up. I am going to be maybe not completely myself. Next week. I have to have a surgical extraction done of a tooth that is really badly broken. Speaker 1 00:02:24 So forgive me if my voice seems a little bit off, but I can't like even breathing hurts. So I'm just doing my best to kind of get through that at the moment, but they can't get me until next week to get it done. So, yeah, that's not too much fun there, but we're going to go ahead and jump right in here with the movies that opened on the 11th old strangers is the first movie that opened on the 11th. It is about, uh, a bunch of friends that go on a ski trip and on this ski trip, they're out walking around the woods and one of them starts acting really weird and they can tell that he's not acting, but they don't know what's going on. It doesn't really explain a whole lot more than that in the trailer. So I'm kind of a little bit of a loss. Speaker 1 00:03:06 It, it just kind of, I'm trying to think of the right words to S to really say on this, it kind of looks like a bit of a psychological thriller. I'm not sure if any of them die or if I up and get killed, they're kind of running through the wood. My first thought was Blair witch, and it's nothing like butter wedge, but I don't know why my brain went there when I was watching this, it coming out only to video on demand. And it's just kind of a unusual thing. If you are wanting to check something out that kind of almost has that spooky type feel to it. This might be a good one. There was a movie that came out about a year or so ago that was similar to this, about some people who are going to hike in the mountains. And one of them was taken over by some creature spirit thing. Speaker 1 00:03:51 And this almost kind of rep had the feel of that. But for the life of me, my brain is blanking on the title. So I do apologize on that, but let's just hope that maybe this one is better than it seems. If I get a chance to, I might check it out just for curiosity sake. Also on the 11th, we had breeder it's again on all, pretty much all the movies that are coming out on the also are all the movies that came out on the 11th that came up strictly on video, on demand. So none of these are coming out to the theater. These are only a video on demand, but this next one is titled breeder. This one is a subtitled movie. I couldn't quite figure out what the language was in this one. I'm thinking maybe German, but I'm not a hundred percent sure, but the whole idea, and this is the aging is a disease. Speaker 1 00:04:35 And this female scientist gal, she's desperate to find a cure. It is a very psychological medical thriller. It's extremely disturbing. And the scenes in the trailer were almost reminiscent of like Nazi type war crimes. I know that really goes a dark path on that one, but that's, that was totally the vibe I was getting off the trailer. It did definitely not going to be one for the faint of heart. I mean, this one was absolutely disturbing to watch just in the trailer for, so I can't even imagine the whole feature leaks film, but being a critic again, if I can't really find anything else to do. And I just want to check out something that's this, I don't know who knows it might not be, it may have built a lot better than it seems, but this one was just beyond disturbing. The third movie that came out on the 11th is called Dawn raid. Speaker 1 00:05:25 Now, based on that title, I wasn't sure what to expect, but as the trailer was playing out, it's actually a hip hop documentary about the first Polynesian rap artists in New Zealand. And their definition of success was being kind of up in that level of the American artists. So they wanted to come to America and they really wanted to blow the roof off the joint and just everything that comes along with that success. But along the way, they took their eye off the ball. And that's an, that's a quote from the movie. That's why I used that reference as they ascended to the stardom and ascended to the Heights that they wanted to get, they found themselves absolutely spiraling out of control. Did they end up succeeding? Did they end up like making a name for themselves? I'm not a hundred percent sure because I'd never heard of them before, but that doesn't mean that other people haven't. Speaker 1 00:06:12 And if you are a fan of like the eighties, nineties type rap music, at least that's what I, it didn't officially say the dates, but that's kind of how it felt like the timeframe that all this was playing out. But yeah, this one was just, I don't know, it just kind of a documentary about music. Like I said, if you're a hip hop fan, you might really enjoy this one. If you're not a big hip hop fan, the, this one is going to completely alienate you now as for the 12th, only one movie came out on the 12th. And this one, if you've, if you really want to know what I think, go back and listen to my podcasts that I talked about this movie on it, but Eternals is finally coming out on Disney plus. So if it is one that you've been wanting to see, it's going, it's now on Disney plus available to watch, but I can pretty much suggest, like I suggested my original podcast. Speaker 1 00:07:04 And if you want to know why I said this scripts go back and listen to it. But the best part of eternal is, is if you forward all the way through the rest of it, to the last fight scene, to the last 12 to 15 minutes of the movie, and then watch the bonus scenes in an after the, uh, the credits and all that play out. And that's the best part of the movie. The rest of it is just something that's trying to be something it's not. And it was to say that it's a flop would even be a compliment, but thank goodness, the rest of the movies that are coming out this weekend are not as bad as what that one was. So now we're finally to the 14th for tomorrow. And this one, it's got some, I've heard of some I haven't heard of. Speaker 1 00:07:45 And so we're just going to kind of jump in and talk about these. Now, if you've basically paid attention to movies at all over the last 20 years, I am sure you've heard of the scream movies. There've been, I think four or five other ones up till now. And they're releasing another screen movie this week and it's opening up tomorrow. And in some locations that'll have special screenings tonight, but this one is basically the, the Tacs are happening again. And Sydney just doesn't seem like she can ever escape from all of this. Is it her legacy? Is it something else? And in all of the other screen movies, again, I'm not going to give too much away here, but the killer always ended up being somebody close to the, everybody that was in the original screen movie. This one feels a little bit different. It's almost like they're trying to go paranormal with the ghost face on this one a little bit. Speaker 1 00:08:41 So how many more people have to die and why do they always keep coming back? This one's has the connection at the beginning that all of the other ones have, but there are, or I can't say are a hundred percent, but there are some rumors about twists in this one, just for stuff that you would not expect. So how will this all play out? I guess we'll have to wait and see. It has been more than a few years since the last one came out. So how they're going to tie all this in and make it. So it's a continuous story that's really going to have to wait and to see because the other ones they really been hits or misses. There's not a whole lot of middle ground with the screen movies. They're scream, not screen again. Sorry for my pronunciations with that tooth. Speaker 1 00:09:27 It's just bugging me a little bit. So I apologize, but so moving on hotel Transylvania transform you. I, for 1:00 AM a huge fan of the hotel Transylvania movies. There is even, I believe on the second one that Safir suffers screaming pain. You will never sleep again. That's just part of it. And yeah, I know it's bad, but, um, like I don't even remember the whole thing, but it was just, I paid attention. I even put all the lyrics it's underneath the review on movie, deputy.com. And for if you were a kind of a fan of that song, and I know it sounds really dark, but it was cute. It's kind of like the whole lullaby that Drack saying come Mavis when she was really little and everything. But in this one, the monsters in the humans trade places, Johnny has been absolutely desperate to try to impress Drack. Speaker 1 00:10:22 And after making some new friends in the last movie, when they were on the cruise and everything, and DRAC actually becoming friends with van Helsing, which that's a whole different storyline in and of itself. But van Helsing decides to try to help Johnny impress track. And so humans turned into monsters and the monster is turned into humans. It's basically like freaky Friday, except on a Tuesday. According to Johnny, this one looks like it's a lot of fun. It is coming out exclusively to prime video. And like I said, I personally am really looking forward to it. Our next movie, it's also an animated movie. It's an anime animated movie. This one is English dubbed. I'm sure you can find it subtitled in some other formats as well. And even if you are wanting to hear the original, I'm guessing in Japanese, like I said, purely guessing on that one. Speaker 1 00:11:13 I'm sure you could find it that way too, but in bell, it's welcome to the world of you. This young girl who is an absolutely nobody and the everyday world becomes something special in this online world. And for some reason in the real world, she can't sing. I'm not sure if it's a medical thing or what the trailer didn't where they explain a whole lot, but in this other world, she can sing again. And she really kind of just skyrockets to superstardom in this online type virtual reality world. And people become really desperate to find out who Belle is because that's her persona or her name in this alternate world. And she's just absolutely desperate to keep her secret because if people find out, I mean, she could lose everything. And you'll notice that without theme of a lot of the movies that we're going to be talking about today is the whole risking everything or losing everything. Speaker 1 00:12:09 So it just, it just kind of is a theme with the movies this weekend. Sometimes it's a couple of them, but there's a lot of them this weekend that are playing out like that. But this one, like I said, it's an anime animation cartoon movie. It looks to maybe be a little intense firstly, off some for younger audiences. But if you are kind of a fan of this one reminded me of ready player one, the whole, who you are in real life versus who you are in the animated world, except in a cartoon form. And it also kind of had a little bit of the whole gem and the holograms feel, which, you know, a lot of people consider that movie a flop, but I'm old enough to remember the original cartoon. And surprisingly, I actually enjoyed the movie itself when it came out. So like, if you're kind of thinking along the lines of those movies, or even if you remember the old series of like jam and it's kind of reminiscent of that because in this world, Belle has pink hair. Speaker 1 00:13:00 So she's very reminiscent of food. Gem was back in the day, but you got that age as me just a little bit and our next one is shattered. This we're going to go from something really lighthearted and fun to something really, really dark. This one is kind of a, a toast to sudden adventures, a chance encounter in a grocery store or a bottle of wine. And it turns out that this chance encounter wasn't exactly so chance the one person targeted the other, they ended up holding this person hostage while they're trying to Rob the person blind literally there. And so he's trying to escape and it's almost kind of in a misery type feel to it only with even a darker twist than even what Stephen King would do. It's very much a psychological thriller. That is definitely not for the faint of heart there. Our next one is called Arctic void. Speaker 1 00:13:59 And it's about kind of a sea tour. Now I'm not talking like three hour or two or no, it's nothing like that. But this like cruise, it's not a cruise ship. It's like a smaller vessel, but it's taking people up around the glaciers and stuff like that, kind of a sight seeing enjoying nature, just the beauty of everything that's happening around them. But they're quickly reminded that if you don't play by nature's rules, nature will make you pay the price along the way they lose power. And it truly becomes a game of survival. And they're going to truly see what nature's games are all about because it's, I don't know. I'm trying to think how to word this. It just w as they're trying to escape, they're going through all of these survival things with nature, but they don't just have to survive nature. They have to survive something even darker. Speaker 1 00:14:50 And as this plays out, I guess that will remain to be seen the trailer. Didn't give it away. And so I as lost as you are on that one, but it could be interesting. Our next one is called the free fall. Now this one, I was not at all. Sure. What to expect and kind of like was shattered. This one is also somebody who's held captive. And the whole thought of the movie is that the voices in our heads are supposed to instruct us on what to do. It's all about seduction and secrets. And the trailer was not really informative at all. On this one. It kind of had the feel of schizophrenia, maybe a little bit and how that all plays out. But again, that's purely conjecture on my part, but if you're curious, check out the trailer or see if you entered a little bit more of it than I did, but for me, I was kind of lost. Speaker 1 00:15:47 The surprise visit is our next movie. This one, believe it or not is based on a true story. It's about a robbery gone wrong and how far they're willing to go. It was, it's a heist movie. It's just, like I said, it's the whole, how far are you willing to go? What, what about the cost? The costs could cost you everything. Like I said, there's going to be a lot of movies with this theme today. Again, the fact it's based on a true story has my intrigued a little bit, but the trailer was really vague on a lot of things on that. So I would try to maybe find another trailer or something. If I could watch, I could only find the one on this one, which I was surprised on because usually there's at least a couple of trailers on movies such as this, but not at this case. Speaker 1 00:16:32 Now this next one really caught my attention in there. It might do it is subtitled. And you all know what I feel, her, how I feel about subtitles. This one is in French, but even with it being subtitled, this one really just gave so much energy. And I just I'm really looking forward to this. So I'm going to actually be searching for this this weekend to see if it's anywhere near me. But, and then in the 18 hundreds, a chef is absolutely ridiculed for feeding the elite food that they don't expect. He was feeding them things like potatoes and truffles, which were one thought is peasant food because of this, he just is absolutely literally laughed right out of their kitchen, but he decides to pursue his passion. And when he does, he makes such a name for himself that they actually come groveling back to him wanting to eat his food. Speaker 1 00:17:19 And it plays out that what reminded me is it feels like a human version of Ratatouille just because he was following his passion for food, even when it led him astray. And that sorta ended up just bringing him happiness in the end. I don't know how this one ends, obviously, as I haven't seen it, but I'm really looking forward to the idea, just purely based on the story, our next movie. I'm not sure how to pronounce the title. It's Borrego Borrego. Braigo, I'll spell it. It's B O R R E G O. It's about a drug run, gone wrong, um, murder and surviving in the desert, trying to, I'm not sure if they're still trying to get the drugs to their destination, or if they're just trying to escape with their lives. I'm trying to think of the movie that had the feel of something such as this a couple of years back. Speaker 1 00:18:09 For some reason, I don't know, forgive me today. My brain is just blanking on some of the titles and these ones are ones that I know that I've even reviewed. I know that's really sad to say, but one thing I've always promised you is I'm real. So that includes all of this stuff as well. But yeah, that's about really all I know on that one, the trailer, again, the frailer wasn't very informative, but the next movie Italian study is it is about a young woman studying in Italy. And she comes down with amnesia. Doesn't really say how, but her memories could be the clue to everything, but in order to uncover those memories, she's going to find that there's going to be a high cost to doing so. And it seems like that the cost of that is just beyond her grasp. So while she remember who she is, will she find out why it's such a cost to try to learn who she wants was and why all the secrecy it was, or at least seems interesting, but it looks like a slow burn. Speaker 1 00:19:05 If there's a lot of people that like those slow burn movies, and this might be one of them, but I guess we'll have to wait and see our next one is kind of weird. It is. How do I put this? It's a cops and robbers story. That's actually the title of the movie, a cop and robber story cops, a cops and robbers story. It's a documentary about the Supreme team in the meth trade. It's an inside story that N that the NYP D really doesn't want you to see now, why is that? Because the it's kind of feels like the big person in the meth trade was kind of a big person in NYP D. And if you guys listened to me for long, you know, that I am a total back, the blue things like that, yes, there are corrupt people in every industry, but primarily the police are there to protect and serve. Speaker 1 00:19:54 But this one is really kind of a dark side of the N YPD and the dark side of this one cop. Now, is this, uh, kind of a thing to make cops like? Or is this just a thing about this? What the decisions of this one cop were? I'm not sure. It just, it, I don't know. It was just kind of a little bit more than disturbing on a couple different levels. If you are the whole, if you are one of the people that is just against the cops and stuff like that, I don't know if you're going to really enjoy listening to podcasts such as these, because I am a conservative and I am back the blue and I am a hundred percent pro military stuff like that. So I am not going to be completely unbiased when it comes to stories such as these, if they're just bashing cops and stuff like that, mind you, there are bad cops and they do need to be brought to justice, but that's definitely the minority here. Speaker 1 00:20:51 And did I piss you off? I really don't care just to be honest, but yeah, that's what, that's what you're going to get with me. The next movie is really, it's, I'm watching this. And my husband was like, what is that? And I'm like, well, it's something. And honestly, if I didn't do stuff like this, I wouldn't be able to talk to you about things like this and movies such as this, and actually warn you and give you a heads up Sealy. So you'd know what to expect and know what to maybe avoid. But the next one is titled who we are a Chronicle of racism in America. Now based on a title that actually sounds like it may be informative, but this entire story is about hatred for America to about racial justice, fanning the flames of justice, racial hatred, doing all guests on the whole guys that everything is everything in America is about white supremacy. Speaker 1 00:21:44 And they're like, this is who we are in America. No, we're not. It's not everything in America is not based on white supremacy. Yes. There have been absolutely horrific things that have happened in the past. And you know what, there are still hoard things that happen to people, but that is not the majority by, by far and the book this kind of does it, it just really fanned the flames of hatred. It just, it wants to keep this division going and it wants to keep just that, that line drawn in the sand to just, I guess they maybe think the more control over that they have, they being all the POC, people of color that are falling into this whole thing. And honestly, even white people do Caucasians. They fall into this whole thing and they get kind of swept up in this whole thing of, we need to do better. Speaker 1 00:22:35 Yes. Okay. And some sun and some sun can't talk in some areas and in some mindsets, yes, people do really need to do better, but that is not the majority by far. And the way this movie portrays it as that, this is the biggest problem that we're all dealing with. And it could not be further from the truth. So am I on a little heated on this one and a little passionate, but yeah, I honestly have no desire to see this. I may watch it just to kind of help bring you guys a more rounded view on it, but stuff like this. Okay. I appreciate free speech. I don't want to silence something like this because I'm sure it could reach people, but that reached them in the way you might think. I want people to see something like this and help make them passionate enough to want to fight against these lies and this misinformation that's out there. Speaker 1 00:23:25 Yeah. Like I said, I get passionate about this stuff, but more people need to learn how to find their voice and take a stand. If we don't, the stuff that's going to take over our next movie is called the pink cloud. Now we're kind of still on that mindset. We're fanning the fear. We're feeding the fear. This one is completely subtitled. And it says at the beginning of the trailer, this movie was made in 2019. So any similarity to current events is purely coincidental, but this whole story is about lockdown and staying in your home. So you don't die. And just kind of learning how to live in the lockdown, away from society and away from the fear. Because if you go outside, you're going to die. God, how many more of these things, I mean, need to be made. How many more, how much more does Hollywood want to scare you into thinking that you cannot live your normal life? Speaker 1 00:24:17 Now I'm just going to be really blunt here. I have not worn a mask, basically, unless I had to go to the doctor for something where there, you don't really have a choice since the beginning of this whole thing, that it is a joke. I mean, okay, the virus itself is real, but the severity and the, and yes, okay. People have died, but people die of people die of the common cold for Christ's sake. I mean, she, I mean, it's just, so yeah, this whole thing is this pink cloud is going to kill you, but it, their whole thing where, what their quote unquote, disclaimer, that any similarity to current events is purely coincidental. Uh, well guess what people, if you were that worried about it actually applied to current events, you could have redone it, or obviously you're believing in the whole feeding into the fear and locking yourself away and hiding from the world mentality. Speaker 1 00:25:11 Yeah. I guess this is for you, but if you actually want to live a normal life and just be, be yourself, he had don't believe the hype. Our next one, we're actually going to getting a little bit more lighthearted again. It's called river dance, the animated adventure now. And again, unless you've been living under a rock for the last couple of decades, almost everybody has heard of river dams. It is. I thinking Irish thing, it's this big tap dancing thing. And it's T it truly took the world by storm quite a few years back. But again, it's still very much out there in the world. And this one is a Netflix movie. I'm not sure if it's coming directly to Netflix, uh, tomorrow, or if this is when the Netflix made. So I'm not a hundred percent sure on that, but this one is a bunch of deer dancing to the iconic river dance and the dancing that they do, it's almost like quote, unquote, the rain dance by native Americans. Speaker 1 00:26:08 But there, the dancing that they do keeps the river flowing. And when two kids discover their secret, they end up causing a little bit of a disruption that kind of just puts everything in jeopardy a little bit, but how it all plays out. I mean, it's a cartoon. It's probably going to be lighthearted. It's all going to work its way out, but it does. It looks like a pretty cute story. And this one looks like it could pretty much be safe for all ages. The last movie that we're going to talk about today is the tragedy of Macbeth. This one is coming out exclusively to apple TV tomorrow. And this one is Shakespeare. As you've never seen it, bill Shakespeare, as you've never seen it before, it's brutal. It's stunning. If you're familiar with the story of Macbeth, you will be absolutely enthralled by this. Speaker 1 00:26:52 It is intense in its presentation of its masterful manipulation, and it will sacrifice your senses in its surreal presentation. I don't have apple TV, but this one makes me want to subscribe to apple TV just to watch this I, the trailer was it's so depth. It's, it's so deep and it's presentation. And just the way it's done that, I am S I'm really anxious to watch this. If you're not a big fan of Shakespeare, you might not enjoy it, but this one looks like it takes Shakespeare to an entirely new level and believe it or not, that was all the movie is for today. The Irv that came out this week, let me go ahead and count them. I've got 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 movies. We haven't done that in a while, but I love bringing this information to you and trying to help you with as much of it as I can have.
